Over the weekend Richard and I will be working on concept art for the characters to help make a firm decision of what we want the animation style to look like. We first decided to look at The Lover character and how people are percieved in her tale:

The Lover - played by Natalie Johnston, we have based the character on her looks essentially, exaggerating them and working heavily with colour and contrast to achieve a Sin City style film noir theme. We really wanted to accentuate her curly, flowing red hair which symbolises the character's fiery passionate attitude as well as her femininity. The idea is to make her look as much like the stereotypical femme fatale of film noir as possible but also keeping to an exaggerate animation style that accentuates curves and anything that would be considered attractive in a woman.

Alice Lane- Played by Jen Nelson. Again Film Noir Sin City esque style. This time I aimed to make her appear brighter, a genuinely warm, friendly, naive character. She is less femme fatale, more femme attrapé. She is innocent, whereas The Lover is far from it.
