just a couple of images of suzie templeton stop motion characters - think its the closest stylistically to what we want to do
(we're not going for wallace and gromit or a tim burton fantasyland after all!)

Black and white - pulp noir look - the chariot?
for getting inspiration for a beautiful looking film noir/pulp detective look to one of our stories (possibly the priest/chariot or justice/hitman) thought we might want to have a look at this semi animated style done for the batman B&W series {different animators have to do a black&white batman story}
could be done with a combination of drawing skills/ adobe illustrator & adobe after effects

Finally found that music video we saw in the hancock with the morphing faces, which could be good research for the final scenes of Fracture. The Moon flitting from one personality to the next in quick sucession.

Recommended by our lecturer Rob Jefferson, a website which should be useful for our 'Fool' character and possibly have some involvement in the face morph at the end if we choose to use prosthetics.

Batman: Arkham Asylum
I think I've shown you some of the brilliant art work in this graphic novel, there's references to tarot cards, insanity and the moon in the beautiful drawings....but there's also some interesting dialogue to get us thinking:
(as two face destroys a pack of tarot cards stacked) "who cares for you, you're nothing but a pack of cards"
"He's a special case. Some of us feel he may be beyond treatment. In fact, we're not even sure if he can be properly defined as insane! Some days he's a mischeivous clown, others he's a psychotic killer. He has no REAL personality"
"I want them to know what it's like to have sticky fingers pick through the dirty corners of his mind"
"The sign of Pisces. Pisces! The astrological attribution of The Moon card in the tarot pack! The symbol of trial and initiation. Death and rebirth"
Grant morrison on the structure & themes of B:AA -
"the story is woven tightly around a small number of symbolic elements, which combine and recombine throughout, as if in a dream: the Moon, the Shadow, the Mirror, the Tower, and the Mother's Son. The construction of the story was influenced by the architecture of a house — the past and the tale of Amadeus Arkham forms the basement levels. Secret passages connect ideas and segments of the book. There are upper stories of unfolding symbol andmetaphor. We were also referencing sacred geometry, and the plan of the Arkham House was based on the Glastonbury Abbey and Chartres Cathedral. The journey through the book is like moving through the floors of the house itself. The house and the head are one."
Francis Bacon
I had mentioned before about looking at Francis Bacon's art as a good exploration of the mind of a mad man! Could use his art style as something the moon might draw: could fit in as disturbing imagery in the mood board perhaps?
He also explores the theme of transforming faces in his art so there are some interesting self/other portraits where it is like a painted version of what we might want to do for the Moon characters multi character face scene.

Re: Fracture
yeah, we didnt have a story outline as such for the devil for that exact reason, hes the 'lawyer' and it would make most sense for him to be without a backstory
good to hear that youre into the idea! think if we can crack this story & flesh out the characters could be a really good project!
yeah if you want to have a go at the outline, in the next week or so that would be cool :)
obviously theres no immediate pressure because its a project for next year but the more planned out this is the easier and quicker it'll be to start it in september
cheers

Re: Fracture
I think the general vibe should be - somehow - the Moon character was found with the body, however he swears these 'other' people were there and they get called in for questioning, and each embellishes on their side of the truth, aside from the Devil character, who the only logical explanation for him being 'everyones' lawyer without the audience getting suspicious is that he's the court appointed lawyer, no one has their own lawyer and he's the one presented to them, so it's entirely possible he doesn't have his own story.
If you want, I could think about this and get a, shall we say 2 page, outline to you in the next few days? To figure out the story entirely, I'd have to sit down, write down the actual events, split it into 6-odd pieces, embellish on them, rearrange them, and stick the interrogation scenes around them.
I'm not gonna lie though, it's an exciting premise and I'm pretty eager to indulge myself in it!

Re: Fracture
well done for reading through the labryinth of ideas/emails etc dude!
I think youve completely grasped the feel of this project,
yeah we tried to set up a rough framework for these stories to piece together without giving too much away about these characters being the same person, but both me and andrew know that the different stories need a lot of work/changing/fleshing out - so any further ideas you have just let us know!
I like the idea of a non-linear narative too, the messing around with time & character would work well together

Okay, so I finally managed to get around to reading your extensive back and forth and there's some awesome ideas in there. Sounds like a thoroughly thought out project.
One of the main things that caught my eye was the presence of the Moon in the 'flashbacks', whether it being direct or indirect. An idea I had for this would, which I really feel could tie the whole thing together, the kernel of truth in every story, could be that whatever the Moon character is seen doing in relation to the missing woman could be the truth. The Moon - woman relationship could be anything, from Moon seeing the woman upto meeting her, upto dating her, upto killing her, any set of stories, something so Earth shattering it fractured him into the 'people' you see. The story about the woman isn't thought out, but off the top of my head, I'm thinking he sees her, 'stalks' her, gets to know her, they fuck, something happens to piss him off, he kills her (each segment of that story would cover a new personality).
The stories could be told in a random order by the people, interrogated randomly, but if pieced together in the order they appear in the Tarot cards they could reveal the a chronological story, but, in terms of flashbacks, think Pulp Fiction, in the sense that the story can be told in a non-linear episodic narrative.
Some of that may not make sense, but get back to me, let me know what you think!

Hey man, I like the look of Brick with the guy searching for the girl and a lot of strange stuff going on. Yeah I'd borrow it cheers because I was a bit bamboozled by the trailer lol. I also remember another good film involving multiple personality disorder with a fair few twists and turns, 'Primal Fear' not the general plot interest because it's about murdering a catholic archbishop, but the relationship between Richard Gere the lawyer trying to defend the guy and the guy himself Edward Norton. Especially Ed's character that’s particularly sly, very clever and obviously mentally disturbed. It's well worth a watch. I think it's a trilogy of films as well but only seen the first one. Just sprung to mind just now because it was years and years ago when I watched it, I'm intrigued myself now lol.

Fracture Structure
As I've mentioned before, I'm going to do 1st drafts for both of the ideas - (1: The stories leading up to his capture. 2: Differing separate tales of what has happened to the girl)
However at the moment the 2nd option is the one I can make the most sense & believability out of so I'm doing that one 1st
NOW...
We have six stories, and if a girl goes missing what could happen?
I've narrowed it down to: Girl is murdered
Girl is abducted
Girl has ran away
Girl has faked her own death
Now 2 of these options will have to be repeated twice to make it six stories -- so if you want to come up with some stories based on these premises?
The clues:
· before girl goes missing she rings the asylum to speak to the Moon
· her room has half her drawers open, the clothes missing
· there is a bloodstain on the floor
these clues would leave it open for any of the possibilities I mentioned E.G. Blood, could be murder, it could be her getting roughed up and running away, she could of done it to herself to fake death, she could have simply cut herself by accident and left without incident....you know, options are open for any which way
It can involve shady black market dudes, politicians, trailer trash, journalists, conspiracies, bank robberies, jealous lovers, ninjas (joke)
In other words think of a story you like that is possible to fit in to these 4 ideas of how the girl could disappear.
These stories can (and are kind of meant) to contradict previous stories from previous characters, after all the point of these personalities and their stories is that they’re all fictitious accounts in one guys head.
These stories can be set (location wise) anywhere; they don’t have to be in or near the Asylum.
We'll collect our stories together, see what we like, composite them together and make a 1st draft which we can then hand onto Ian cottage for review or another scriptwriter to re-write.
Reply:
Ok, here goes... For each character obviously plausible fitting their personalities, attitudes to what happens to the girl when they witness it, where they are, what they're doing at the time. So...
The Fool: He's young, having trouble sleeping and basically lives at the university his mates are studying at when he's not at home trying to sleep. She's connected to him but only just through his circle of friends. He knows her attitude towards people but isn't really friends with her. He says that she's a bit of a bitch at the uni, makes a lot of enemies because of her shallow, superficial attitude towards people. He says to most of the 'normal crowd' she wasn't liked very much. The last he remembers is walking home alone after a late nighter seeing her strutting home putting it about a few guys and was picked up by a person he didn't get a good look at in a sports car with blacked out windows. He just assumed she was getting off with one of the popular guys but that was the last he saw of her then he was dragged in. Obviously, he's a guy who lives on his wits and cocky, so the interview is broken up with trying to get the information out of him without making some kind of snide or sarcastic comment.
The Lover: Says she has a similar story to The Fool, she remembers the girl as a female rival. They both always had to outdo each other with whatever they wore, whoever they were seeing etc. She then goes on to talk about more shady activities they were involved in. 'Good looking girls like us mixing with a lot of guys; it's not long till we got noticed.' The Lover then goes on to talk about becoming a local social escort; she needed the money and says she remembers the girl also delving in that area too. The last she heard was the girl getting involved with the wrong people, the kind of people you don't mess with and having a disagreement with them, never seen since.
The Chariot: Working as a member of the church, he remembers her in the last few weeks turning up quite frequently to talk to him about her problems. She'd never been a church goer before, said she wasn't even religious, but felt the need to come to somebody she felt she could trust, to 'confess' to. He said she felt the need to see him after the first time she went to confession, told him she was in a mess, she'd certainly sinned. She told him she was in with the wrong crowd and she realized finally that if she stayed on the line she was going, she would pay the price, but she was finding it hard to 'disappear'. After the large amount of visits to the church and discussing 'disappearing' with The Chariot, she disappeared. The Chariot is cagey about what happened, he feels the need to protect the girl's confessions in the eyes of God. To divulge them would be against his duty. The detective gets very annoyed by this and probes The Chariot severely and we never find out why he's so angry till the end when we realize who he and everyone else are.
The Hermit: He's wild, manic, obviously not a full shilling. The majority of the interview is mainly aimed at bribing the detective for a good place to stay and a nice mound of cash, so he could reveal what he knows, the key being he doesn't really know a lot (or again of course leading the detectives on a wild goose chase with having a hidden motive) He says he remembers seeing a girl of her description arguing with a bloke pretty heatedly as he was walking the street, he then got drunk on the money he'd been begging for all day from the public and whilst rummaging for his tea in a bin, he saw the same bloke loading a rolled up carpet into his car boot. He says he didn't really put 2 and 2 together till he heard about a disappearance and saw her picture in a paper he found lying round on his travels. He believes the bloke's probably murdered her.
Justice: He's hard to read, being emotionless and all. The detective tells him he's brought in because they believes he knows something about the girl's disappearance, that he grew up with the girl's father, served time with him in the army and had something to do with his search for her. He says he knew her from when she was very young and was pretty fond of her. When she disappeared he felt the need to do everything he could to find her, to bring the one responsible for her disappearance to 'justice'. He acts quite passionately about accusations that he might be involved in her death, like he was more than just her father's friend but had feelings of his own for her. (Almost like a stalker. This could reflect the main character's feelings for her if you count all the characters as a whole person. Little snippets of each personality revealing an element of truth).
The Devil: He doesn't know the girl as such. He's just the defence lawyer for all in question. He's slippery about what all the suspects or witnesses have said and tries to twist everything that was said by them so that the detective can't possibly pin blame to any of them. This is obviously nullified when we realize that they're all the same person. The Moon comes through for the last time when the detective cuts through the lawyer facade and comes to his conclusion, whichever one that may be.
I personally think that elements from each story are true, that The Moon appeared in each version, either as an outside influence (like the bloke loading up his boot with a carpet, the bloke in the blacked out car) or as a direct influence (Justice being there watching her from the beginning, The Chariot listening to her problems, mainly just so he could be around her, The Fool, giving his actual opinion of her being basically a slag, not interested in him etc. The Lover, when he starts to get verbally aggressive towards her rejections of him) So they're all inter connected but subtly, in a way that the audience aren't automatically going to think they're all the same but something he's managed to conjure up in his head to describe what happened after possibly killing her, the trauma of doing whatever has happened to her, whatever he's done more than likely being what's fractured his mind.)
Each personality obviously covers the separate scenarios, her being missing, her faking her death or 'disappearing', her being kidnapped or her being killed. Yet all situations can be linked back to The Moon at the end cleverly to understand the twist that he's got D.I.D and it's all him. The audience still don't get the confession from The Moon, but as he's dragged away kicking and screaming back to his cell flashing his face between personalities, the audience are still in an understanding that he was involved in everything, kind of like 'Keyser Soze' if you like.

The Lover, when he starts to get verbally aggressive towards her rejections of him) So they're all inter connected but subtly, in a way that the audience aren't automatically going to think they're all the same but something he's managed to conjure up in his head to describe what happened after possibly killing her, the trauma of doing whatever has happened to her, whatever he's done more than likely being what's fractured his mind.)

yeah keeping it to 6 is probably for the best
yeah doing some armature/stop motion would be cool as long as we keep the face/features of the character reasonably based in realism don’t go too cartoony
yeah I also think we should make some good use of the green screen & after effects, we can work the live action scenes well. For the psychologists interviews we can really let the actors go for it because there’s no travel/time or equipment constraints & get the best performances out of them, then we can add in the lighting/effects colours and atmosphere to compliment it in post.
Yeah the moon (aka Main) personality should be the character in live action I reckons! as well as the psychologist interviewing him
I was thinking of asking someone like John Grundy to do a voice, he’s got a distinctive voice, is used to theatre and TV would be fun!

I think we should do some shooting at Cherry Knowles for the asylum exterior/some interiors & use some of the footage for animation reference too
I mean having a historic, lunatic asylum in Sunderland with beautiful architecture, it would be great and with it being abandoned we have complete access to it
would have to get someone with a car to drive us there but it would be fantastic, I’ve attached some lovely photos of it

Hey, that's a great idea because I was thinking, we should have less personalities and more time spent with each, especially the 'moon' character being the dominant personality out of all of the others. 'The Devil' would probably be like 'The Moon' but at his most aggressive, dangerous and devious. I'm guessing if at any point the guy's going to snap and go to town, it's 'The Devil' personality that'll be present. 'The Moon' I think would be a lot more messing with the psychologist's head than physical aggression and I guess that's what'll make 'The Moon' the most dominant. Clever and deceptive, crafty, not just all out aggression with no thought attached. I'm happy to work with 6 personalities to be honest, alongside the main 'moon' personality, it's just we already kind of have personalities in play that can be hyper masculine and authoritative and don't want to get too bogged down. 6 feel good. If you don't agree though that's fine and we'll add 'The Emperor'. I had a look at your latest set of drawings, obviously we're thinking a different animation medium or style for each, but the features are good to keep with whatever styles we choose. Personally, I wouldn't mind adding some armature animation in one of them; I think it'd be especially good for the more spindly, skinny characters and give them some nice jerky, creaky movements? Rob knows a lot on that side of things too. Working organically for parts would be more hands on I think and satisfying, as well as working with the footage we get from whatever models we make and incorporating it into the backdrop and creating any action in after effects e.g. smoke and extra light etc. We have the green screen as well so I don't know which personality would work greatest as live action on the painted in backdrop? Possibly having the most dominant 'Moon' character as live action...? I don't know. Or choosing live action for a person we know who looks most like one of the personalities and can act it convincingly?

Hey dude
I had another think through the tarot character list and I came to the conclusion 'the Moon: deception, psychological conflict' should probably be the main antagonist, the guy with Multiple personality disorder rather than a personality in his head, (maybe have the moonlight shining in through his cell/interrogation room window?)
this would leave us short a personality (6 instead of 7) so I picked 'the emperor: hyper masculine, authoritative' to be a replacement personality, if you disagree or think there’s a better personality to replace the moon let me know dude
speak to you tomorrow

Hey, I had a read through and good points on tying up loose ends before we get started. I've answered your questions below and hopefully next time we meet we can get started on the plot and character design?

however I think we can go through a lot of pre-production on the animation while were sorting out the script & crew, I’m working on lots of concept art, better character art, title sequence styles etc. so we can continue on with them.
MAJOR POINTS -
· Need the characters fleshing out. - Yeah each of the 7 characters needs a design. They need to be able to be ordered into when they emerge and how they're linked to each other in the mental patient's head. I still think that shadow, light, smoke and colour should play a part in the transition between personalities as well. Also the themes of the cards that aren't personalities could help to move the story along for each character. Like acceptance, denial, anger, compliance, a chaotic situation in the interrogation room etc.
· Need to decide on the exact plot (we have the story arc brief). - Yeah it's just a case of adding together all we've come up with, deciding what fits. Some of the stuff typed up now can play a big part in the plot.
· The person that has gone missing - how did they go missing? How much are they related to our D.I.D. character? - I think that the audience should be in the dark about whether she's missing or murdered or dead or whatever till the end. That she's the reason he's in the mental hospital and all the stuff happened before he was brought in. That they're looking for her because she's missing, either kidnapped by him, gone of her own accord or murdered and they're trying to get him to reveal the truth. They found something on him that belonged to the girl perhaps and that's why he's there? But each of his personalities have a different explanation as to why he's got the object and what he thinks happened to the girl. Obviously again we need to work on t with whoever will be writing the script/screenplay and work it into the story the most subtle, interesting and audience engaging as we can, though a lot of that will be down to the script writer as we said before.
· Do we need to have the missing character found...or are they just a plot point to get to the D.I.D. character & psychologist interacting? - Because of the condition the guy's in and the truth and lies being mixed up in his head, the case would more than likely end up unsolved as to finding her but some sort of closure as to know whether she's alive or dead and who killed her.
· The twist at the end - keep current idea, change/modify it slightly? - I think the audience should be lulled into a false sense of security, the feeling that the psychiatrist is really getting somewhere and the suspect/witness/aid appears to be helping them fully finally as the 'The Moon' personality, then for him to snap or something at the last minute and try to kill him saying of course he killed her or whatever. They have to subdue the criminal and the psychiatrist or lawyer hired by the hospital to represent him has to leave. The prison guard saying 'It's no use, it really looked like you were getting somewhere, but we have a feeling his condition will never truly disappear. I'm afraid with that kind of confession he'll be on death row before we know it.' obviously better worded by the script writer and altered as they see fit. The final shot should be of the guy we saw at the start being dragged out of the interrogation room by two burly hospital workers in white uniforms muttering, whispering, having a conversation with himself, his voice and accent changing to fit with the personalities at war in his head, perhaps even his face blurring or shimmering into different characters. Some of the camera techniques will also have to be worked out by whoever wants to take on the technical aspects such as camera work, lighting etc if we're doing some live action sequences or mixing live and other mediums.
· tarot cards - subtle part of the project, visual & metaphorical......OR blatant, psychics, mystics, dealing cards on screen (I vote the first idea ) - So do I lol
P.S. attached some more of my concept work, this time a kind of mood board piece for a possible title sequence style, I’m going to send revised character portrait designs over the weekend
- I like the mood board a lot. Whether we want the title sequence to appear over the top of that and shatter or start with the title on black fading into that and having the files or images work as having credits like 'directed by' added to them. They could be placed down one at a time on the table with a spotlight on them, could be a collection mounted up on a desk with the wind blowing the paper away to reveal more underneath, having a blinds effect added to them so it's like they're next to a window or they could already be laid out and have the camera move between the images with the credits appearing next to them?

Hey, personally I think all of these film festivals sound great, I think that whichever festival sounds best for our film we should definitely think about entering our film into it. Most importantly, I really think we should continue with this film and the ideas we had going with it, to me, we were on the right track in terms of a clear brief, a good coherent, unique idea that we can work with. I feel that if we pull it off as a project, yes, we can enter it into festivals and our final submission of work etc... But only if we pull it off... our main focus I think needs to be getting a good solid crew together, because without that, I don't think anything will work. The piece needs to be able to flow smoothly with whatever crew we get and we need a feeling of satisfaction from whoever we get as our crew as they start to create this.
So far, we've had a great overall plan of the piece, we have a basic idea of what it wants to look like and a vague idea of where it wants to go. Both of us have taken a good bit of time researching into the themes and ideas of the piece, nobody can say that it's slapdash or rushed in any way. However, yes, we should be open to improvements, but not ones that will change the piece completely. We all need to form some sort of agreement as a team, that this is the brief we work to. I don't know about you, but since coming to the decision of this form of narrative, I kind I’ve felt that everything gelled nicely. We went through many different ideas and I think this one stuck for whatever reason. It's different, using different mediums of animation, the tarot cards playing a prominent theme, using the age old psychological thriller narrative but adding the specific animation range, psychological disorder and psychic belief system can certainly make the piece unique, especially bearing in mind that this really is our first in depth piece working as a team.
Like I said before, we've got a firm idea down on paper or typed up. We can get Ian Cottage, Peter Dillon or Rob to have a read through and critique it, they should know if we’re going in the wrong direction. So, so far, let’s develop our ideas as far as we can. See you next week mate, I hope all goes well with this because personally, I think we've got something great to go at. See you next week.

Hey, the treatment Rich typed up and concept art should be attached in one of the emails I sent if it helps. I'll attach it again in this email just in case. We sat down and came up with a load of ideas in a mind map thing so maybe we could all have a look and add what else we've thought of to it then pick the best ideas, all of us, from that? I think all the ideas so far have been good to work with; it'll be the screenplay that makes it though. We're all coming up with the treatment and me and Richard will get involved with organizing the voice acting and animation. We need a script guy to make it work, to do the script going from what they've learned in the classes, which is why we picked you for that. We're none the wiser when that's concerned lol. It'll be the dialogue that's key to its success as well as the animated visuals. We just need a firm idea to work with and we've got plenty of them once we're all together to have a look through.

Hi I don't know the full story for your film yet, but I just had a quick idea, instead of making the interviewee the crazy guy, a twist in the end could be that it's the psychiatrist who is crazy, and these are all personalities that he has made up, and his final personality is that of the psychiatrist. Just a quick thought, instead of an obvious twist.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_Arcana the characters from tarot cards also made me think as well for each personality. Not literally have the guy there dressed as a fool but the personality traits each character on the cards represents. I just thought it might be another avenue to go down with the idea that the person the psychiatrist is after is missing and it's kind of a play on them doing what police sometimes do getting a psychic to work to find them, the cards being a tool for psychics? Like I said before, until we sit down the 3 of us or whoever else wants to join us and put all these ideas down to a vote or whatever I just thought it'd be good to get as many of these out there in the open to think about.

Hey, just watched '9', a great film and it opened up some more ideas for our D.I.D (Dissociative identity disorder) character. What if this guy was once whole as a person but the D.I.D fractured him in some way? That each different personality is a part of him in some way? Whether each character represents a certain mood he's in and brought forward by different feelings the psychiatrist is evoking in him or different parts of who he's been? Like, 'the quiet one', 'the dominant one', 'the dark edgy one', 'the helpful one' etc. Each character being significantly different from the other but inevitably; if all the personalities were brought together, they'd make one person. Every mood he's feeling/ personality is heightened, exaggerated and noticeable as that mood. What do you think? It's something to think about I think rather than have them all completely separate people but to have them all connected in some way as well as them all being the same person? Or we could think of the seven deadly sins as reference for each character? Also it depends on how many personalities/characters we want to show but we could start by listing all the moods or traits then connecting which we think each character should connect to:

· Lewis Goldberg proposed a five-dimension personality model, nicknamed the "Big Five":
1. Openness to Experience: the tendency to be imaginative, independent, and interested in variety vs. practical, conforming, and interested in routine.
2. Conscientiousness: the tendency to be organized, careful, and disciplined vs. disorganized, careless, and impulsive.
3. Extraversion: the tendency to be sociable, fun-loving, and affectionate vs. retiring, sombre, and reserved.
4. Agreeableness: the tendency to be soft-hearted, trusting, and helpful vs. ruthless, suspicious, and uncooperative.
5. Neuroticism: the tendency to be calm, secure, and self-satisfied vs. anxious, insecure, and self-pitying [3]
The Big Five contain important dimensions of personality. However, some personality researchers argue that this list of major traits is not exhaustive. Some support has been found for two additional factors: excellent/ordinary and evil/decent. However, no definitive conclusions have been established.[3]
Hope all this helps get the ideas flowing further. See you next week.

Hey Simon, Richard got in touch and sent his basic film treatment and some concept art for the Aesthetica film festival so I thought I'd forward what he sent and if you still fancy getting involved, you could come up with a screenplay or script for us? I text Rich saying 'Hey, had a look through the email. Great stuff, definitely think it's something we could go with story wise. It's just a case of finding a way to get it done, especially for 30th April and sent off or working on it longer and handing it into next years? We'd still need to get on with it now like but it'd give us more time to put detail into it. Unless we can find a way to shorten the time it's going to take to do all the animation, getting a group in for each style otherwise it'll take forever if it's just me, you and Simon to make it look good. I'll send Simon the email anyway and see what he can do with it starting a script and that. It's a great start and I like the concept art too.' So let me know what you think and we could all meet up at some point or when we do the animation on the sea front we could talk about it there? See you next week mate.

FRACTURE
A police psychologist enters a psychiatric hospital to review a case where an inmate has disappeared mysteriously from his cell. The hospital workers have no clues or leads as to what has happened. The police psychologist is briefed by the head of the psychiatric hospital, and is told about the last person to see the missing individual and that he has a ‘special condition’.
The psychologist begins their investigation by being introduced to this inmate who was in the neighbouring cell to the missing person and begins to question them.
The neighbouring cell mate is elusive & only has partial information to help the psychologist; the cell mate however suggests other figures from the hospital that the psychologist may find it interesting to talk to...
The psychologist sets out interviewing the other figures/suspects, each in turn offering partial stories relating to the disappearance. Conflicting tales & questions about who is telling the truth arise.
After the last interview, the police psychologist deduces what he believes has happened at the mysterious disappearance and talks to the head of the hospital revealing his theory.
Just before he leaves the hospital he goes back to the interview room to thank ‘everyone’ for their help, (there is only the neighbouring cell mate in the room) when it is revealed that all the interviewees are split personalities in the neighbouring inmates mind, a shot compositing all the personalities over his face.
Nothing out of place – a poem about D.I.D
http://fly.hiwaay.net/~garson/terre1.htm
GENERAL IDEAS
· Scene/shot of characters shadow moving along corridor wall while whistling
· The multiple personalities could claim alternate theories as to disappearance e.g. one claims murder, one claims escape
· The multiple personalities could blame each other for what happened
· For each personality – different drawing/animation style – looks and movement
I've sent the draft treatment and concept art Rich and I thought up for this project in the attachments above. Simon, Rich and I have also been adding to the ideas by email so I'll also post up what we've come up with below. As you can see, we've got loads of ideas on where to go with it. Rich and I also sat down today and ran through the tarot card idea again, listing possible personalities that would fit each card. We also photocopied lots of different visual drawing styles from some books in the library so we'll either show you or post them up once they're scanned in. We looked at certain actor and actress faces that we thought would fit with each character as well and picked out the prominent facial features we liked. The rest is below:
