production update

Today I viewed the possibilities for props, on-campus locations, armature types & casting & moulding with Yvonne Boyle & Rob Jefferson.

there is 2 possibilities for a extra large green screen set:

LIPMAN TV STUDIO is a small sized tv studio with the option to hang greenscreen cloth around the perimeter of the studio, thus we could have a full 360degrees greenscreen set.

UNION STAGE 2 is the largest studio space with top quality theatre lighting & special effects, only one large wall can be used with a blank projector & green lighting for the greenscreen. We also have the added bonus of having rain, wind, snow, fog machines in the studio to have real time weather effects.
* Both studios have a large camera rostrum for high angle/ skyzoom shots, Sound playback & recording facilities, lighting control room

i found the rent-able music practice rooms in Lipman basement were a good match for a police interview/interrogation room, small rooms with a desk and the same decor as seen in programmes such as Ashes to ashes/the Bill. These rooms would be easy to book out and would mean being able to film on campus.

I had a discussion about armature/puppet types for our production with Rob, i feel that steel frame armatures for both the lifesize armature & the 8inch armatures with magnetic tie down (so as to not cause destruction to the green screen set) will be the best methods for Armature animation.
I am going to have a sit in session on Monday 1st Nov with Yvonne on moulding and casting using dental alginate & silicone so i can see the pros and cons of both methods and to learn firsthand the technique.

Once the actors are cast & the costumes decided i will have further discussions with Yvonne about costumery & prop design for the armatures.
